If you’re a kid, the phrase “back to school” probably fills you with dread.
If you’re a parent, however, the phrase “back to school” probably makes you want to break into your happy dance. Well, almost. The cost of notebooks, text books, the most “in” shoes, and the perfect first day of school outfit can add up really fast. It’s like a thunderstorm during your back to school parade.
Well, if you live in the great state of Ohio, you’re in luck! The Ohio government is having a Sales Tax Holiday this weekend. It starts on Friday, August 7th at 12:01am and runs until Sunday, August 9th at 11:59pm. During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:
- Clothing priced at $75 per item or less
- School supplies priced at $20 per item or less
- School instructional material priced at $20 per item or less
You don’t have to be a parent to enjoy this absence of sales tax, either! Go out and update that wardrobe just for yourself and save a ton of money on sales tax while you’re at it. And remember, always try to support local when you can!
Happy shopping, and happy back to school.
